The Efiling rejection report should have an explanation as well as recommended remedies to fix it.

Im not sure how to get there in Basic, but in Pro you highlight the client file, then hit F12 and choose Rejected Returns in the menu

Looks like IRS thinks the spouse is dead

IRS Tax Return Rejection Code IND-941-01

Problem: The IRS rejected your Federal Tax Return because the Spouse SSN entered is locked by the Social Security Administration because the individual has deceased.

The problem is that she is very much alive, as verified by both Social Security Administration and Internal Revenue Service. No one can answer the question "why does the return continue to be rejected?" Any thoughts?

Some kind of glitch with IRS or SSA, Ive heard of it happening before. Paper file, and have the client follow up with SSA and see if they can tell whats happening with that SSN.
