Mark 12/26/23 on your calendar:

Business MeF Production Shutdown Schedule

Shutdown for "Send Submissions" only is scheduled to begin at 11:59 a.m. (noon) Eastern time, Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

Transmitters can continue to use the other service requests except "Send Submissions" until 11:59 p.m. (midnight) Eastern time, Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

States can continue to use all the service requests necessary to retrieve and process state submissions in accordance with shutdown activities stated above. MeF recommends that states adjust their processing schedule in order to retrieve submissions in time to validate returns and submit acknowledgements.

Any acknowledgements not retrieved by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on December 26th cannot be accessed until MeF opens for production in January 2024.

good. just had somoene call.. owns a C corp...has not filed since 2000.  if i take this on (meeting with him monday) depending on conditon of books (that is if there are books).  often situations like this there are no books or usable books.. will resconstruct from bank statements and payroll reports (hopefully they outsourced payroll and did not do their own payroll)

@Jim-from-Ohio Jim do yourself a favor and stay away from that. I wouldn't touch it with a 100 ft Pole, but you do what you want to.

I can only imagine how messy this will be.  I take on more returns that I really should.  Being self employed, which I know many others here are also, saying no is something I always had trouble doing even though I don't even need the revenue:)

Good info... I have a 2020 S-Corp I'd love to sneak in before the deadline.

AND - To maybe head off angst/issues on that deadline day - doesn't Intuit usually shuts it down a few hours before that IRS cut-off?

I almost added the Intuit early shutoff, but with a noon shutdown by the IRS I wasn't sure what Intuit would use for a cutoff time.

Well, maybe just maybe they'll tell us?  Like they did last time?  Which, many folks seem to not notice when Intuit *does* tell us.
