Amended return

I need to amend a return for a new client. The previous preparer did the return on paper and pencil. The preparer omitted QBID. Can I do an amended return without recreating the original return. However If I need to recreate an original not how do prevent QBID from being entered.

You have to rebuild most of it in order to prepare the amended return.  As far as the second part goes, don’t mark anything to trip QBI when entering the original return info.
