Lacerte 2024 Updates

The software update feature in Lacerte has been absolute garbage this year, and I suspect they're doing this intentionally to force us to pay more for hosting. Every time there's an update, I have to go to the Tool Hub and reinstall the entire program! This is completely unacceptable. And on top of that, Lacerte doesn't have any account managers to whom I can express my frustration; only tech support can help me with my issues. I'll be switching to a different software next year.

Feel the same way.  I shouldn't have to continue to reinstall the program every time there is an update.  I get errors almost every time I try to efile a return because the program didn't update automatically.  With this and the large increase in software costs, many other programs are becoming more reasonable.

I am even having to do it with DMS. It is so bad.  DMS has never had issues like this. It is so bad. 😞

Just in case - If you have not yet used Tool Hub click that link and give it try. The two issues are sometimes solved using the FORCE install to kick the kinks out of a bad file or poor earlier install. DMS and PDF printing can usually be fixed with Tool Hub Printer Repair

Personally, the "silent' update got off to a rocky start, but it seems to be working well now. It is a bit intrusive, but it does work.

I have had to use the tool hub more than I care to this year, not to mention a few re-installs.  I used it last night for DMS.  Did the back up, took a while but figured it would fix everything and I would be back at it.  Only problem was, the back up ended up not being there.  I mean, it makes you do a back up for good reason.  To tell you the hell I went through last night and this morning would be an understatement.  Thankfully, we have server backups and were able to restore from there, but, it was not fun.  Whatever you do, don't rely on intuit.  Support basically said.. I don't know.  If we had not had our own server back ups and been doing this for many years and had experience on our side, we would have been sol.  Thanks for the suggestion.
