I have a strange diagnostic that has been carried over from year to year and I cannot get the system to clear the diagnostic.  The assets in question were placed in service back in 1976, 1977, and 1978.  Accordingly, they have been fully depreciated for many years and have no effect on the results of the Form 1120.  The Diagnostic tab in Lacerte cannot be cleared.

Depreciation asset # {PrefixNum} : Method inappropriate for date acquired. The tax depreciation method is set to MACRS, however, the date placed in service indicates the method should be ACRS.

Solution: For assets before 1987 and that are fully depreciated, try using method (96) CLADR, or no-calculation.
