And how can we even file them on paper, when they are sitting in limbo in efile? If they go through, they've filed twice now if we paper file. PROSERIES, do better!!
@ Kate
Its tax due date for farmers - what is the status of all of our returns held in abeyance by Form 4136?
Thank you
We have been advised by ProSeries (via phone call) that the returns that are being held by ProSeries will be stamped the date they were received. Looking at the submission ID docs, they indicate the day that I efiled them.
I was advised by ProSeries tech support to print and paper file the returns that the IRS is going to reject them and they cannot be e-filed again until March 6th.
thank you - did they provide a timeline for when they would process the returns and we are to receive the efiled and accepted notification?
no offense but my confidence in them is waning - according to the rep I spoke with last week, it has been under investigation (146405) since 2/21; what is taking them so long to fix this issue - and - why can't our moderator Kate provide us with transparency as to the process and timeline - we had a similar experience 2 or 3 years ago with farmers who filed Form 1040, Sch F
Proseries client since 1998. I'm seriously consdiering switching to another provider. At this point we can't even remove the 4136 and file...and then go back after it's resolved and amend. BECAUSE YOU ARE HOLDING MY RETURNS HOSTAGE. Either reject or accept them!
So, if a return has rejected due to 4136 issues, we should unmark it for e-filing, print it, and have the client mail it?
Is there a chance, since Proseries has the return dated when it was originally filed, that after the update of March 6 it will be accepted by the IRS? Or is this option only for the returns Proseries is currently holding that have no reject or acceptance?
Would our Intuit Moderator please check into this and post on this thread? Most farmers will not be able to get their spouse's signature on a return today and make the window to get it in the mail on time.
Thank you.
Thank you for the intel
@ Kate - please tell those in charge that this is a horrendous answer, poor / no transparency or communication to those of us impacted and failure to timely resolve by proseries.
I met with my farmers on Saturday & Sunday anticipating this answer. I will paper file my impacted returns today then rethink proseries after busy season
My current plan of attack is to efile extensions for those affected that owe more than $1,000. They already sent their money in with the 1040-V. It allowed me to efile extension in. I'm going to babysit them today to see if the extensions are accepted. If they are not, I'm going to mail them in yet today.
There is no extension for the March 1st (2nd) deadline. They'll potentially have a penalty for not filing by the March 1st deadline.
I get that. But what other option do we have at this point? If they are sitting in limbo in efiled but not accepted and we paper file another copy, now it's been possibly filed twice. I don't really have a choice at this point. I'm going to print the log that it's been efiled, and hope to fight any penalties with that. I really hope proseries figures this out by the end of the day
Yes, this is the second year ProSeries is not ready for the farm tax deadline. There is a bug for the 4136 that is causing the rejections. I suggest not submitting any with a 4136 as I am in the situation of mine are not getting the rejection and not going through with automatic withdrawal of payments. They will be late for payment if I cannot get them rejected and pay a different way.
Just off a 2 hour call with support, it is a known bug to be resolved by March 6th for filing rejected returns. Seems like ProSeries is ignoring the fact that farm returns and tax payments are due March 2nd. Not much help in support to push through or reject the ones I have already submitted. They have completely left me out in the cold with the fact I will have to lose customers and pay their penalties.
Hello All, Tax Development is still looking into the reports of this rejection that started happening after the IRS enabled e-file for 4136 in late February. If your return is due today you may need to paper file to avoid any late filing penalties. We will update this thread with new information once we have any. We have added anyone that has asked to the investigation and you will receive an update via email.
beyond disappointed with lack of transparency in this process as well with ProSeries failure to timely resolve for our farm clients
