Quote was posted on myproconnect.. I am ready for tax year 2026.... year end cannot get here soon enough.. been a week since the tax season crunch ended.. enough time for me to begin again.
Have you been checked out by a professional recently?
PS My LC renewal came in the mail yesterday and it reminded me of some bad things last season. I don't renew until November.
no but I love Proseries Professional... does that count?
I just looked at my renewal.
$9,553.22 for upcoming year. $9,034.87, $8,276.04, $7,808.90, $7,417.00, $7,476.18, $6,706.00, $6,305.00, $6,060.
I do get Fixed Asset Manager (no other add-ons).
Two items to note (1) 2022 price went down by $59.18. Guess I shoudln't post this. (2) I figured I could have bought a house with all the money I paid ProSeries.
But you could buy a house many times over with the money you made using ProSeries maybe:)
Whew!!! I was mad about the $3500 for ProSeries Professional. What setup are you running? I'm serious going to have to look at different software next year. $435 increase over last year is crazy. It will be $4000 for 2027 version. Competitors are offering the same package for around $1500.
My retirement home.
"Competitors are offering the same package for around $1500. "
It may purport to do the same things, but it is not the same.
Consider learning curve, ease of use, conversion issues, etc.

But those competitors are likely focused on their DIY software, don't have good customer support, don't listen to suggestions for improvements, take weeks to fix errors, doesn't limit K-1 losses due to Basis, charge large PPR fees for business returns, has lots of incorrect in-program guidance, don't have Form 5227 ... um ... wait ... never-mind ... except for the price, I just described ProSeries. 🤣
As if the average 6.5% increase for LONG TIME LOYAL CUSTOMERS isn't bad enough (3X inflation index), not only are they giving new customers 25% off (bait & switch) they are offering new customers ONLY a ProSeries Professional package that includes both individual and business returns that is not offered to existing customers. So with my pay per return "business" returns (about 10) I paid $5,200 for my 2025 individual and business returns (so far) when this New Customer package would have cost me only 3,641-a difference of $1,559. When I called the rep said "the new customers will pay full price next year, If true they will be slamming this year's new customers with an 43% increase next year. Do you think they will stay? Hell no
Now to find a new software vendor after 25 years with Proseries.
"not only are they giving new customers 25% off"
I have no love for Intuit, but they are no different than any other business looking for new business. I heard on the local radio station the other morning that an oil change business was giving discounts to new customers coming through the door. I didn't hear them say boo about giving discounts to anybody that was an existing customer. You aren't the first person to bring up the new user discount and you won't be the last, but I have asked a couple of questions of other folks that have brought up the issue. Do you give discounts to long time loyal customers? Have you never raised your prices?
Drake is cheaper, but it does have its limitations. Take it for a test ride. If your clients are all based in one state and you have basic returns, it probably will work for you. Rumor has it that if you deal with clients with income in more than one state, it involves a lot more data entry on your side to make it work.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm semi-retired doing less than 80 1040s, most are single state returns, most of my expats don't file state returns so it will be easy to test the ones with nonresident returns so I will them as part of my test. Hopefully FBARs are not a problem nor will CFC ownership with GILTI income. Less than a dozen corps, partnerships, estates-once consolidated return with only one sub.
how do i auto renew 2026
LC renewal price = 8,343.
I don't have many complex tax situations but I'm likely to stick with LC because my customers can afford and the cost of learning (by me) has already been paid.
For tax planning purposes, LC is getting better.
Hi @johnea, If you need assistance with your renewal, we recommend connecting with ProSeries Support and they can answer any questions you may have.
