proseries logs in without entering password

lakata

I've been noticing this issue with proseries 2023 where I go to sign in and I let it sit there in the background for one reason or another, then when I click on the X to close it, the program opens just as if I had put in the password and 2step verification. I called Proseries a couple of times but each time I'm told that that is impossible. I even recorded it to show I'm not being crazy. I think this is a major security issue that needs to be resolved. I'm told this is the only way of reporting it so here it is! Do something about it.

They told you wrong.

sjrcpa, well, I called Proseries, reported the problem, insisted that it is an important security issue, told them I recorded it happening and this is what they told me to do. Do you have any solutions or an actual place to report the issue?

Thanks

Try contacting support again and maybe you won't get an idiot again.

@sjrcpa  This report made on 9/30/24 and then two days later the annoying two-step authorization process starts to occur at every log in.  Do you think that these two things are possibly related to one another?

It sounds like a frustrating situation, especially when it comes to something as crucial as security. It’s wild that ProSeries is letting you log in without entering your password and two-step verification! I mean, who needs security when you can just let the program open up as if you had typed everything in, right?

Maybe the folks at ProSeries think they’re giving us a masterclass on how to password protect a folder—by just not bothering at all! Have you tried clearing the app cache or reinstalling it? Sometimes, issues like this pop up from cached data acting up. It could also be worth checking if there are any updates available for the software.

Regardless, this is definitely a significant security vulnerability that needs to be addressed. Thanks for bringing it to the community’s attention!
