I printed out a return on my office computer. showed a balance of $ 3,911 due to client.. all was fine.. I backed up all returns today at end of day.. I came home.. restored all the returns from today.. so far so good.
I downloaded the acknowlegements and that one return showed a rejection.. After numerous attempts to cure the rejection, decided we would just paper file that (spent way too much time on this return cure). so on the screen and on the 8879, return showed a balance due of $ 3,911 after
I restored it on my home computer.. so I printed it out for the paper submission and the refund monitor I noticed, and on the printout of the 1040 now shows a balance of $ 244.. i reviewed the printout to the $ 3,911 version and some numbers changed, once printed..
I deleted the file.. restored it again. refund montior correctly showed a balance due of $ 3,911.. printed it out.. balance due changed to $ 244
So i compared the two sets of returns in more detail. wife is self employed.. her Schedule C is in both versions of returns, the 3,911 one and the 244 one but Schedule SE is missing, as well as the self employed tax deduction. The Schedule C is in both versions but the SE is now blank on the one wiht a balance due of 244.. the SE is there but all blank. anyone see an issue where printing a return changes the results, while printing?
When it prints the $244 return, what is shown on the screen? You still have the return open, right? My first guess was that the Schedule C is coded for the husband, who might be maxed out on Social Security, but there would still be Medicare tax on the Schedule SE. And half of that should show up as an adjustment to income.
The next step might be to reinstall the entire program. But I don't know what that would do to all the returns you have already completed. Maybe it's only a problem with spousal Schedules C.
thank you for responding. i have the post-printing return on the screen, the 244 due one.. Schedule C is present, checked as spouse. Scheule SE is there, but all blank.. From that form SE, i quick zoomed to the SE adjustment worksheet and it does show the Schedule C profit under spouse but it does not get carried over to the actual; SE The SE is even lacking a name. the name of person with SE line (on top of the SE) is totally blank.. a little concerning is this. how can a return change after printing..
@PATAX But his transmission from the office computer failed, right? I think his problem is violation of the Sabbath.
Rule 4301:1-1-49 | Hours of preparation of tax returns.
Ohio Administrative Code
@BobKamman Bob, for some the Sabbath is Sunday. For some the Sabbath is Saturday. But some people do not work on any day, therefore the Sabbath is every day for them.😉
The only thing printing a return does, albeit client, preparer or filing copy; it recalculates and saves taxpayer file. You can test this by restoring and just hitting F10. The program will re-calculate. That still does not resolve why 2 computers are different but I don't think it is caused by printing, just recalculating. I suspect a bad update on home computer. I have had no problems with this year software except stupid 1040-ES I have scattered all over waiting for release. If you have to make estimates why are you even in the office right now. COME BACK in April.
Maybe related to this issue?

what was the rejection for?
PIN.. first it said spouse.. got the PIN, re-filed it again. stil rejecting. this time said dependent needs a PIN. got client to get me that.. still rejects
@Jim-from-Ohio Have you received any guidance from Intuit on this issue?
Update.. I "repaired" updates and it is fixed.
