I get error "that says this action can't be completed because the underlying service is taking longer to respond"
Spoken with support multiple times, they keep pointing to OS problems. However its all computers at the practice. I installed PRO23 on a laptop and took it from the practice and it works fine.
I believe this might be the background "news updater" getting blocked but no definitive proof. Is there a firewall help article out there other than one that deals with the built in windows firewall?
Using Watchguard Firebox.
I have it happen constantly when my cloud back is running, so I only run that at the end of the day now.
If your anti virus is constantly scanning PS files, that could cause the problem as well.
Sometimes you just need to reboot the computer and that clears the ROM or RAM or whatever resource it is that PS is hogging.
I have noticed it happening more this year. It not only is effecting 2024, but is starting to effect 2023 & 2022 as well. Could it be a behind the scenes data handling?
I had the same error message on 2024 program this week. Called support and they gave me a link about configuring AV to exclude Proseries 24 . Have no idea what it meant. The girl had no real knowledge. I think it has to do with Intuit loading sales data popups on program. I don't know but it is irritating and I've just started tax work.
As an update related to the AV: I completely disabled the AV temporarily and the local firewall.
This issue still was occurring.
thats what i suspect too. I think somehow, somewhere their sales data and advertisements are getting blocked as spam. Again I have no concrete proof or even at what level the block is occurring. I suspect at the firewall level for the facility since its all machines but who knows at this point.
I dont see any sales or advertising anywhere. When I get the message I open Task Manager and see a string of processes related to Proseries, sometimes if I end Task on a few of those, it remedies the issue right then, but it could be that it finally stopped on its own anyhow. It always eventually clears itself if you have the patience to wait
Im not a programmer but theyve got something in their programming thats not allocating processes properly or something, and makes everything "hang", it seems to get worse each year. The message used to be different and had 3 button choices, "Cancel, Retry and Switch To" but none of them ever did anything to fix the problem either.
