Can someone update me as to if/when NJ no longer requires an NJ 8879?

Last time I filed returns (before 4-15-22) NJ 8879 was generated and was required to be signed by the client.

Also, is the NJ efile authorization no longer required going forward

Thnx in advance

Funny I was just wondering the exact same thing. I just completed a return that included NJ and I spent forever searching for the form driving myself crazy. I'm sure it was there during tax season. I ended up printing out the instruction page and made them sign that.

It's been driving me crazy especially since there's no info about this from NJ Taxation

The client we filed on 10/17 had a NJ 8879.  I usually go off the cover letter on if the state has a required efile form or not.  Oh, it is not required anymore, as of  April 2020.  https://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/nottaxpract.shtml

so, are we required to get NJ-8879 or is it at our discretion?

I see conflicting responses.

I'd say it's no longer REQUIRED
