Need Help with System Error

cimeron01

I am unable to start my tax program. I'm getting a system error. It says: "The code execution cannot proceed because mfc140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

I tried reinstalling the program, but it didn't help. I haven't tried uninstalling and then reinstalling, but I'm afraid if I uninstall I will lose my work. That may not be true, but I don't know and don't want to try until I know.

I will call customer support tomorrow if I can't fix this today, but was hoping to fix today. Thanks.

That's a Windows System file, do you have any Windows updates waiting to install?

I didn't see anything, but I guess I needed to download the latest Visual Studio Redistributable from Microsoft. No idea what that is, but I asked an AI assistant and it told me what to do. Haha. It is working now. Thank you.

Hi @cimeron01 If you’re still experiencing this issue after trying the suggestions above, please try running the Component Repair Tool in the Tool Hub for ProSeries. This tool can resolve issues with system components that ProSeries relies on to function properly.
