Can anyone help resolve the following issues in ProSeries?
> Tax summary instruction doesn’t match the return and Form 8879 for the amendment.
> Tax letter does not indicate when it is an amended return.
> Client letters are not easily editable, limited.
> Client letters are not available in the form screen.
> It does not include due dates of returns.
> When clicking the box on the business code chart, the number does not get carried to the box where it is needed on the return.
1) I'm at a loss as to what you are trying to share on this.
2) There is a separate standard letter called 'Amended return". Maybe this would help you on concern #1 also.
3) I've been using the Client letters forever. I make some parts bold..some paragraphs shaded, some important parts outlined, got a separate page with just extension dates, blanks spaces for dates paid, check numbers or IRS confirmation #s. I could go on and on, but you seem to have a preconceived notion of difficultness.
4) in all my years, I have NEVER once looked for the 'client letter' in the forms screen. There is an icon on the top row that looks like an envelope with something inside and, and the word LETTER beside it, but I just click on Tools, scroll down to Letters and click on 'manage client specific letter' if I have something unique to this client, and create a client specific letter to this client. Both of those processes take me upwards of 2 to 4 seconds to get to ' client letter'
5) I don't know what you have done, but the letters have HUNDREDS OF DATES, all triggered by the normal things you select in compiling the return.
6) mine does, 100% of the time.
I would be happy to share my 'Standard client letter' with you, if you so desire. I have sent to a few friends on here over the years. I just pasted to a Word document, and they just replaced their standard client letter with mine thru copy & paste.
I agree completely with dd4vols regarding letters. I copied the standard letters from PS into WordPad, make my changes, then copy back into PS for each type of return(1040, 1041, etc.) I shared them years ago, too.
Once you do that, you can copy the PS Common folder from year to year and get the letter changes from last year into this year's software.
I want to use my letterhead, not PS'. I want to have my signature JPG on the Organizer's letters. I have standard paragraphs like "Bank Account Verification" and I have Page Breaks set up between Instructions for Filing and Estimate Pages(if needed). All Standard now.
I wrote Philadelphia City letters years ago(!) and PS's City letters still stink!
It's very easy to double click on another paragraph and insert it into your letters.
