2025/2026 Update Bugs

jportermwc
Level 2

Let me see if I have this right.... At this point in time with the new software:

1.  will zero out previous payroll transactions if accessed effectively erasing that person's check from the system.

2.  does not print the correct cents on the 940 or the W3.

3.  does not enter beginning balances correctly causing out of balance errors on financials.

4.  refuses to access company data bases if payroll was run in previous versions.

5.  2024 payroll data appearing in 2025.

6.  Does not perform the calculations or print the claimable OT value in Box 14

7.  Does not print an Earnings Report YTD.

These are not minor bugs.  And yet we're being told that they will be fixed 'sometime after the first of the year'.  Intuit has basically provided an unusable and unreliable piece of software with no alternative workaround provided for the previous version.  At this point they should return all our subscription fees to compensate us for lost time and wages.  I don't know about you but our entire practice lost a day's worth of productivity because we had to troubleshoot issues with the new software only to end up uninstalling it and reinstalling the previous version then manually entering payroll tax tables for 2026.

Which software is everyone looking to change over to?

I am looking at Drake Accounting to replace EasyAcct for 2026 even though I have already paid for EasyAcct. I did have some issues with updates with Drake on the download for 2025, so I don't know if this is the solution. The IT company that I use is going to talk to technical support at Drake to resolve the issue. I am one of the lucky ones who did not download the new EasyAcct, because of a new server being installed. I am trying to work around things right now or at least close out the books and payroll for each client, before downloading 2025/2026 EasyAcct in case all the fixes are not done. I am stalling as long as possible. The Information System seems to be okay. I did a sample W-2 and 1099 through that system and it worked. It also looked like it created a sample electronic file for the W-2 and the 1099. By the way I was able to do January payroll for my company in EasyAcct by inputting the FICA, Medicare and FWT. The reports are wrong doing this as they show negative amounts for the FICA and Medicare for the employer's side, but at least I was able to give a paycheck to my employees today.

I forgot to mention that I have used EasyAcct from when it was owned by Tax & Accounting Software Corporation. They sold to Intuit at the beginning of 2001. I think I have used the program since 1992. I have never seen the scope of issues that you and others are listing in all of that time. I don't understand why Intuit is not rolling back to the 2024/2025 version and then making sure on the rollout to 2025/2026 that there are not the issues everyone has had.

Dena,

I had the exact same question.  Why not patch the current version so your clients can continue operations until you can present bug-free software?  We've used Easyacct since the time that it first came out in the 1990s and never before have we seen this level of .... misconduct.  At this point, I believe Easyacct to actually be in breach of contract.

I'll go look at Drake Accounting as a replacement.

Thanks

Janice

We tried to switch to Drake two years ago. It was great with many things, but not enough for us to keep it. Specifically with California payrolls and not being able to bulk submit payroll reports. Maybe it has gotten better now.. I would be curious to know.

We also have kept the old program, changed the tax tables manually and are impatiently waiting for bug fixes.

Happy New Year!

I'm also seeing issues with the financial statements not printing properly and chart of accounts pop up every single time I input a vendor in write up. Wasting a lot of time. Currently looking for another software option. Seems to me like EasyAcct really hasn't put much effort into this product in years.

Hi @delaine Thanks for taking the time to let us know.  A previous release included updates intended to address processing performance; however, based on feedback received in the community, this behavior is currently being re-evaluated.
