Ross Olson, a senior solutions specialist at Intuit, recently addressed this topic by highlighting features in Intuit® ProConnect™ Tax and related functionality. Starting off, Olson emphasized the significance of being aware of all the functionalities within ProConnect Tax to tap into its full potential, including newly introduced features that promise to reshape tax preparation. ProConnect’s new functionalities One of the main highlights of the session was the introduction of the consolidated Data Import Hub in ProConnect Tax. This addition promises to bring about a paradigm shift in automating and organizing data import needs. The Hub empowers users to connect and process data from a wide array of sources, including local and cloud drives, records of prior year 1040 data, pass-through K1 entities, CSV data, and IRS transcripts, to name a few. Enhancements were also exhibited in Intuit Link, with a strong focus on client collaboration. Diving deeper into data import Olson provided a sneak peek into new features in the Data Import Hub that greatly simplify tax preparation tasks. For example, tax pros can use batch e-file functionality that enables e-filing multiple client returns simultaneously. He also introduced the OneView Instant Access feature, providing a high-level summary of all client information. This, paired with a new functionality in Intuit Tax Advisor, enables users to adjust the Pre-Strategy Baseline, significantly helping with tax planning. Improving efficiency with automation ProConnect encompasses features such as Review Check Marks for scrutinizing field changes, data conversions for integrating data from varied programs, and benefits of using Intuit Tax Advisor and QuickBooks Ledger. Ross emphasized the high degree of automation and accuracy of these powerful features, how they can save time, and enhance the quality of services offered to clients—all free of any additional costs. In addition, integrating QuickBooks Ledger with the Data Import Hub will streamline the import of data. The batch e-file function and the ability to skip, merge, split, and import documents were also presented, including a demo of the convenient click-to-zoom feature for W2 forms. Resources The session concluded with a spotlight on upcoming features, including a return timer and expanded support for more forms. The emphasis remains on automation, integration, and effective data utilization. Throughout his talk, Olson stressed the importance of using the resources at disposal effectively for a seamless workflow, automation, and to best serve clients. As tax professionals, it is essential to keep current on these new features and updates to streamline your process, enable greater automation, and enhance your relationship with your clients. To remain updated and to continually incorporate these techniques, Olson directed the attendees to the resources such as the Education Resource Center, Intuit Tax Pro Center, and the Intuit Accountants Community.
