US Citizen worked in Japan all of 2018, does he need to file a US return for his Japan income? He lives there too. I got a copy of his Japanese return and i'm assuming his w-2, but it's all in Japanese.... this is only my 2nd year doing tax returns on my own, any guidance is greatly appreciated.

US citizens have to file US income tax returns and report their worldwide income. Your client may be eligible for foreign tax credit for tax paid to Japan or the foreign earned income exclusion.
