Everybody is busy mopping up today ----------------- some of us need bigger mops than others, so it is time to say my annual goodbye.  This season has seemed like we were watching Forrest Gump together.  Sometimes we cried together (when that latest update created mass chaos) and sometimes we laughed together (when that latest update didn't break anything).  But we were all happy when little Forrest got on that bus today.  Some of you are going on to other things after today (wooden spoon carving, Walmart greeters, and a plethora of other things) and some of you will be going to substance abuse treatment after this barn burner of a year.  To those of you who said this was going to be your last year with ProSeries, I'll wait to see your smiley face next year, since you say that every year.  But otherwise, it's been a slice of heaven interacting with everyone here.  I do need to issue a special thank you to the head pirate and her motley crew for constantly plugging the holes on our ship with bubble gum.  It's been fun, so see you next year ------------------- or tomorrow, I'll still be here!

Ive got 4 last minute Louies to finish up this morning, and wait for a handful of signature pages...hopefully the mailman has a few of them, then Im heading home.....pop back in tomorrow for a couple hours to make sure its all been accepted, then I'm outta the office until next Wednesday!  I don't even have any plans, just that I will NOT be in the office!

To @IRonMaN  thank you for the belly laughs and the knowledge. I resolve to be more helpful in the future. I'm off to make rental repairs that I have neglected, and I'm not logging the time, I'm not bothering with QBID, although I have had 250 hrs in the thinking about repairs category.

I came in to 2 messages on the machine, neither had called all season but wanted extensions at 4pm yesterday (I left the office at 2:30)....so sorry, too late!  One of them had extensions from 2016 and 2017 and still hadn't filed returns...hope they have some luck finding a preparer that will take them in, I'm done.

I stuck it out until 4:45...because that's when the last mail goes out in our little town.  Changed the voice mail message to "we are closed for a while, leave a message & we "might" get back to you 🙂

I'm not even going to CHECK the messages until tomorrow at the earliest.  If it's a *crisis* regarding an extension, it is too late.  If it's a *crisis* of some other matter, well - it isn't really a crisis that can't wait until I resurface.

The *last* extension I did file was for a client that has the habit of actually filing three years at a time.  So I'm not overly concerned that I almost missed putting him on extension.

We had an e-mail show up about 8:00 last night "wondering" if they should do an extension or if we already took care of it.  Of course we had already taken care of it.  We have just under 2 dozen people that are automatic extensions every year.  It would be nice if they actually did contact us ahead of time to let us know they need an extension, but they know we will take care of them.  Part time tax practice, part time adult daycare.  Have I ever mentioned that the anvils have taken their toll after this many years?

I had one of those emails around 6:00.   But, in her defense, she's been sick - in/out of the hospital & her appointment rescheduled numerous times.  I had already handled the extension for her.

I remember once long ago a friend had called my house at 10pm on the 15th wanting an extension...she couldn't understand why I was asleep, shouldn't I still be at the office until midnight?  crazy people

I don't file an extension for anyone unless they call me.  For all I know they could be dead, already filed with someone else, don't plan on filing, filed their own etc

I'm with you on that TAXOH.....if you cant be bothered to find a spare 30 seconds to call me and ask me to file an extension at some point in the first 104 days of the year....that's on you.

Why is everyone unwinding?    Ohhhh, you don't live in MA or ME!  But I'm on cruise control now anyway with mostly wrapup appts.  Extended returns you all can wait, so don't ask if you can come in on Thursday!

Like I said, the "automatic extensions" are clients that we have been doing this dance for years.  Good people, maybe not the most responsible, but good people.  Besides, I watch the local obituaries just in case one does tip over unexpectedly

I got all my extensions filed last night.  I got everything done that I had here.  I think my son has about 6 that he's still waiting on information on.  

The one good thing is being able to come here for a good laugh most days.
