Attaching broker summary transactions to Schedule D in lieu of reporting 50 separate transactions on form 8949. Can one attach copies not PDF files.

Yes, and the new area for reporting it does have a place to enter the proceeds and cost basis, then you attach a copy of the 1099b and send it to IRS to show the capital gains/losses on schedule D.
