I file 3115s when needed.

I agree professional fiduciaries should file the 56.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

I haven't bothered with Form 56 for years. Seems to be another piece of paper to mail and have it go into oblivion/trailers.

Others may disagree.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

Much like a Form 3115.  But professional fiduciaries (or tax professionals occasionally serving as fiduciaries) should probably do it, because they should be held to a higher standard.

So I shouldn't get an error message if a form 56 is not included with 1041??

There's probably a Diagnostic, which can be ignored.
