Could someone please explain how to e-file a tax return for a deceased individual when there is a court-appointed representative? I have attached the relevant document. The system is requesting a Form 1310, but I understand that this form is not necessary when there is a court-appointed representative. Thank you!
So you file the 1310 and send a pfd of the court document?
This works some of the time and sometimes it does not. I really can't figure out why or when it will work. I try on all that should work. If it gets rejected, then we paper file. Be aware - I've efiled with the 1310 and then they receive a letter asking for a copy of the 1310.
I have given up when the personal rep, not surviving spouse, gets the refund. The form's instructions are counter-INTUITive, counter-productive and confusing. I answer the questions correctly and it says no can e-file.
My last one, since the refund was only $140, we printed and mailed in.
Screw Pro Series.

Me, too. Also when I have paper filed with the 1310 attached.
