where can I enter excludable income for a duty injury for a police officer, seems we can no longer enter it as an adjustment to income as in 2023
What type of tax document was issued to them?
not only what document but what state - most nyc lodi is already reflected in box 1 wages and a code in box 14 has the lodi amount
there are county/village police in NY that don't do it on the w-2 for you and you need them to get you the number of days out as well as the day rate of pay - calculate it and keep a copy of whatever they supply showing the days and back it out of other income with a line of duty non taxable description
In CA Ive never seen a tax documents when its nontaxable for injured on the job.
Disability pension will have a reduced amount in Box 2 but thats the closest Ive seen.

We figured we put it as a negative amount on schedule 1 and send the letter pdf with the 1040
