I just filed my first return of the season.   I am usually upbeat about that, knowing I have taken the first step toward doing approximately 350 returns by April 15th.  But my euphoria was very short-lived when I realized Jim has already done that many returns!

Not quite there yet but it is only February 1.. 1:34 am in the morning.  The delay in RITA is slowing me down a bit.. Since I prepare all returns with my clients here I have to prepare the RITA return twice, once in the 2025 program, but the return will not print. then i have to re-do that same return in the 2024 program, print out, then white out the to reflect that it is really a 2025 return, not a 2024 return. The last thing I want is to meet twice with a client!

Individuals in 18, complete 6. A zillion to go.  I'm already seeing tons of emails from clients who usually come in will now upload to the portal. My guess is my portal vs drop off or appointments will be 80/20 this year. Maybe it's the ten feet of ice we have in Maryland.  Businesses - I've already reached my March 1st panic on February 1st.

I have 11 returns done - that’s like an all time record for January.  Of course those are obviously my most difficult 11 returns in my client base.  That puts me on pace to doing 22,000 returns this year - give or take 22,000.  But on a serious note, Minnesota is on top of its game.  I transmitted my nephew’s return on Tuesday and he mentioned to me yesterday that the refund was in his bank account already.

Yup, Minnesota is on top of it's game. Got to get those quick refunds for the fraudulent day care centers.

Just for the sake of curiosity, at the end of the year let's come back and visit this post and compare the total number of felonies that have been charged against Minnesota day care centers vs how many our president has.
