Preparing a 709 for a joint gift, the consenting spouse statement are both printing with the same social security number.
Hi @MICHAELMARS Here is a knowledge base article that might help. I'd also recommend connecting with ProSeries Support so they can take a closer look.
not the issue at all. both a joint gift produces 2 returns automatically in proseries, however, the wife signs consenting statement on husbands and visa-versa. Both consenting statements are coming out with the correct names but both have the same social security. A programming error.
Hi @MICHAELMARS thanks for letting us know that it is not the issue. We recommend reaching out to Support, as they can remote in and see if there is something you might be missing. They are also able to report it if it is a programing issue.
I prepared a 709 Friday and had the same issue. Since the return had to be filed on paper (I don't think ProSeries lets us do electronic on the 709) I just over rode the wrong Social Security number on the applicable spouses consent form.
Then, to be extra cautious, I over rode the "Printed name of consenting spouse" line on each consent form and added their own (the signer) Social Security number.
I figured that was more efficient than trying to deal with ProSeries support which is worthless.
Agreed, at least pro lets you override the field.
Shouldn't have to contact support when many people here post the same glitch. OR pro should have a link to report problems without having to wait on hold for 30 minutes to tell someone with not clue or authority, about a programming error.
If pro support people were monitoring this site why do we have to report an issue?
"If pro support people were monitoring this site why do we have to report an issue?"
Because they aren't, and when someone does show up they tell you contact support.
