Qualifying Widow, Part II Box 5 of 1040-Program is looking for me to enter childs name but the dependents are already listed in Part III. Is this an error in Proseries?

you must enter child's first, middle initial, and last name in the input area in part II to properly show up on return

do not enter ss# in part II or you will have an error

Yes it is.  I don't know if anyone is aware of it though.  @Charlene_At_Intuit

In my case income was low enough that filing H of H was same result.  Because you cannot list child in both places.

I thought I saw someone a few weeks ago (maybe that was in the ProSeries FB group) that just entered the childs first name in the other Part II Box 5 and the error went away.

I knew I saw some kind of workaround!  I haven't had a QW in many years.

not a workaround--dependents full name must show near T/P's ss# in right hand corner of 1040

#5 QW    Qualifying Widow(er) child's name is invalid for Electronic Filing.  The qualifying child's name field must contain a minimum of 1 alpha character (s).
