K-1 direct entry method

I delete all percentages on "Beneficiary's Smart Allocation Worksheet" but when trying to use Direct Entry method below, the fields are empty, but when I try to enter numbers I'm required to override the cell. Why the need for an override in this situation?

To use the Direct Entry of Dollar Amounts method to enter make sure that your K-1 Worksheet does not have any amounts entered in the Allocable share item fields, otherwise, ProSeries will default to the Percentage Allocation method.  

 

Note:  If you use the Direct Entry method for one beneficiary, you must use the Direct Entry method for all beneficiaries.

@IntuitDavidD66   BENEFICIARIES, not partners.  This question refers to a 1041, not a 1065

The entry is pulling from the Beneficiary's Allocation Smart Worksheet, so if those fields are empty, Pro Series is going to ask for override to enter the information.   Leave the percentages on the allocation worksheet to avoid the override request.   There will be errors on the Beneficiary List if the percentages are not entered there.

The issue is that the amounts are not allocated based on general percentages. Different, specific amounts in different expense and income categories are going to six different beneficiaries.

I think you may need to use override, as odd as that may seem.  I found Instructions for ProConnect and thats what they have to do.

Yes! The K-1 allocation worksheet that you reference DOES have $ amounts that are being pulled from, for example, the Interest and Dividend Worksheet. So you're saying that I need to delete, for example, that Interest and Dividend Worksheet?

No, do not delete the Interest and Dividend Worksheets.  Does the K-1 allocation worksheet have any entries you input as opposed to flowing from another form/worksheet?  Fields you can delete with an override.

Hello @5jspallino Using the sanitized return that you sent, I went though each beneficiary and deleted all of the percentage entries for income distribution in the Beneficiary's Allocation Smart Worksheet.  Once each beneficiary's Income Distribution Percentages had been deleted, I was able to use the Direct Entry of Dollar Amounts for all beneficiaries.  If you use the Direct Entry method for one beneficiary, you must use the Direct Entry method for all beneficiaries. This means you have to delete the entries in the percentage allocation fields for ALL beneficiaries before you can use the Direct Entry method for any of the beneficiaries.  If a single beneficiary has an entry in the percentage allocation distribution filed, ProSeries will default to the Percentage Entry method for all beneficiaries and any Direct Entry amounts will cause an error.

I've tried that (as I stated in my original post). Question is, why do the Part III fields below the Bene. Smart Allocation Worksheets still require overrides?

Are you trying to allocate deductions, credits, or other items differently than their income percentages?  If so, which items and why?

I'm trying to allocate income and deduction items. For example, 1 partner is entitled to 15% of the expenses, but -0- of certain income categories. Why does the direct entry method even exist if percentage allocations are the only method allowed?
