I can not get the Month of Marriage Alternative Calculation to work on Form 8962. I am putting the month that my clients got married in the smart worksheet in Part 2 above question 9 on the form. However, Question 9 always defaults to No even though I would think by putting an entry into the smart worksheet question 9 would populate with Yes and do the Alternative calculation. Am I doing something wrong to get this calculation to work? I can't even override anything if I want to manually do the calculations.
You have to complete part V near the bottom of the 8962
I did complete part V as much as I could. My couple (no kids) was married in October so in the Smart Worksheet I put 1 in the alternative family size for both spouses, 1 in the Alternative Start Month, and 10 in the Alternative end month for both spouses. Lines 1-14 of the smart worksheet are populated, with line 14 saying Yes but it is not populating lines 34 and 35 of Part V. Am I doing something wrong or is it the program?
