I have a 1099 B with federal tax withholding. When I found the place to add it in on the 1099B adjustments worksheet, Part IV, it put in on the 1040 correctly but also put on the backkup withholding line, of which it wasn't I assume. Nothing on the 1099B says it was.
When I get that done, it shows up that I need to put every entry in on the 1099B even if I scanned the sheets in and put in the totals. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Seems like the programming could be done to make this alot easier than this. The pink entry didn't show up for this 1099B until I put in the Federal withholding total on the worksheet.
Try putting the withholding directly on the tax payments worksheet (theres a line for it), instead on the 1099B worksheet, see if that works better.
FWIW I think it is backup withholding when its on the 1099B, it means the taxpayer didnt submit a W9 for that account and theyre forced to backup withhold now.
