Dependent question

I have a client who is married filing separately due to debt that her spouse owes. She has a child from a previous relationship and gets to claim him every other year and never married the child's father. The child's father received half of the child tax credit monthly because he claimed him in 2020. She is claiming him in 2021 and ProSeries calculated the full $3,000 credit to her. Is this correct? Also she can not claim head of household because she is MFS correct?

What the child's father received in advance child care relates to his return. It has nothing to do with her return. Frankly If he claimed her last year (2020) I am surprised that she received any ACTC.

As to the filing status try this worksheet.
