Persistent error for SMLLC where EIN is all 0's. EIN is not required for an LLC with no employees.
Error Message:
California LLC: CA LLC Information Worksheet: LLC EIN is not valid for electronic filing. The value must be a valid EIN Number that are not all the same number.
Return conversion failed.
Any idea why this is triggering for this tax year and how to correct / bypass?
I am getting the same error
I know AI isnt always right, but it does give you a starting point
Yes, a California Single Member LLC (SMLLC) is generally required to have an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to file Form 568, even though it is a disregarded entity for federal tax purposes. The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) treats SMLLCs as separate entities for filing, and an EIN is necessary for e-filing the 568
Key Details Regarding EIN and CA 568:
Is this a new law for 2025 taxes?
I have been allowed to file LLCs for California for years without an EIN
again, I just gave a starting point, all my SMLLCs have EINs, I always figured it was one of the first things they do when they decide to be an SMLLC.
