Hi- I'm trying to file a final report for a Texas Partnership, but I'm getting a critical diagnostic error saying the Public Information Report/Ownership Information Report (Form 5-102) is required. However, all the help pages say this isn't required for a final report. Does this mean proconnect can't efile and I can only do final returns on paper?
Go under State & Local --> Taxes --> Texas Franchise Tax and scroll down almost to the bottom. There is a section that states Inital/Final Reports. Make sure you have indicated in the field for Type of Report that this is a final report by entering a "2".
Hi- yes, that is what I currently have. The question is moreso that I am doing the final returb, and as such, the reports aren't generating because they "aren't needed for a final report". Consequenly I'm also getting a critical error message saying that I can't efile because the report didn't generate. So I'm confused- are you not able to efile final Texas reports because the public information form doesn't print?
Ok understood. Can you tell me which of the Texas Franchise return forms you are generating? That particular diagnostic is looking for either the Form 05-158A , Form 05-158B, or the Form 05-169 to be on the return or the 05-102. If you have one of those other three forms it will allow efile without the 05-102. If you do not have any of the other three forms in the return, then the 05-102 is required by Texas for efiling.
Diagnostic Language in case anyone else encounters this: "For electronic filing, one of three forms must be included with the return. Either the Long Form (Form 05-158A, Form 05-158B), the EZ Computation (Form 05-169) or the Public Information Report/Ownership Information Report. The supported filings are the Long Form, the EZ Computation, or the Information Report. Without one of these included in the return, the filing will be rejected."
