Hello.
Is there a signing order for a DocuSign document?
Let's say, a DocuSign eSignature request is sent to a married couple. Their return listed Jane Doe as the taxpayer and John Doe as a spouse.
Does Jane has to sign first then John, or does it not matter?
Here is my situation. A married client filing a joint return received a DocuSign request. Somehow, John (spouse) signed first and now Jane (taxpayer) cannot sign. She keeps getting an error message that her info does not match. I checked the form 8879 and it shows John's signature in the spouse (correct) section.
I'd appreciate if you have any insight on this. Thank you!

It does not matter. Every year, about 2% of my clients have bad luck with DocuSign - it asks a question about something it thinks is related to them but isn't, or it thinks the right answer is something that's factually incorrect. Void the request, send a new one, hope for the best!
