ERO vs Paid Preparers in ProConnect

Hello new to ProConnect this season, 

Our Firm has multiple preparers but one ERO. 

In the input section under General>Client Information>Miscellaneous Info, when I select XYZ preparer in the drop down (who is not the ERO/default preparer in settings) to be the paid preparer of the tax return (reflected bottom of p2 1040), then XYZ preparer also populates as the ERO on Form 8879 Part 3

An hour and half with tax support trying to help me fix it and I was told it was not possible and that the preparer must be the ERO as this is determined by the IRS. I don't think this is correct. 

No other software I have ever used has forced the paid preparer to be the ERO too... can anyone help fix this please?

I saw this same issue for LaCerte users in the forum and they seemed to be able to fix but can find nothing to fix this issue in ProConnect.

Hello @MelMac, welcome to the community. 

Have you tried editing Preparer Information? If not, try this- 
1. Click Settings in the top-right corner. 

2. Select Preparer Information.

3. Check the DEFAULT option for the preparer assigned as the default ERO contact. (see article here
4. Navigate to Form 8879 to confirm the correct name is listed.
