A missed RMD for 2024 is reported on Form 5329

You would report the penalty (with excuse?) in 2024.

If properly corrected you would get ONE 1099R in 2025 for both of the distributions, assuming only one financial institution is involved.

Yeah, but that was a different year 😀

I was duped.....on the internet of all places.  He might be one of those Nigerian kings I have been told about.

But seriously, if people in this community are assisting TT users, then I'm a little annoyed.  Intuit should not allow them in the LC community.

Intuit should not allow them in the LC community.

True. But they do. The doors are open to every one.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

"Intuit should not allow them in the LC community."

That has been a common complaint since day one of this community.  Ok, maybe day two since it took a day or so to figure that out.  But as you see, nothing has changed over all of those years.

Is it possible to set certain posters/users on Ignore status?  That might be a solution.

No but DIYers typically don't ask a lot of questions here.  So if you see somebody listed as "new member" you might want to skip the post if you don't want to eat up your time reading a post by a potential DIYer.

The problem is that some people have made it to Level 2 by getting away with asking enough questions that have been answered, to look more or less authentic.  I think you can get to Level 1 just by reading lots of questions, but I'm not sure about that.  So those who can't resist answering a juicy question, even when it's obviously from a new TurboTaxer, has opened the door for a lifetime of free advice.

And I don't think the posters always know they are in the wrong place.  When I'm Googling, I come across questions in the TT forum.  If someone there had an answer I thought was worth examining, I might be tempted to sign in there.  (I can do that, can't I?)  It probably works in both directions.
