EASYACCT software

How many of us feel like we have been lied to and stolen from.  I was told last week there would be an update on 01/08 to fix the issues.  I was told today that there would be not update and that maybe there would be an update next week.  Please explain to me how am I supposed to be able to process correct information?

How many of us are starting to get quotes from other software companies?  I have two phone calls scheduled tomorrow.

As for the update last week to fix the payroll issues, it did not work.  I have been trying to input a client's after-the-fact payroll since 7:45 am.  The system is so slow, I am 4 hours in and only half way through.

Nearly twenty years of being with EasyAcct and I now feel like I need to hire a divorce attorney.

We have a couple of calls in on new software, but I'm not sure what good that does at this point. After we talked it over we figure that by the time we got new software, imported all the information, and tried to start running anything they will (hopefully) have the bugs fixed and now we're paying for 2 different softwares for the year.  Plus that puts me on trying to learn a whole new software system right in the middle of tax time. Unless this drags out ridiculously long we're thinking we are probably making the switch at the end of the year because we will not be back next year.

This forum is supposed to be for EasyAcct customers to give suggestions on how to do things in EasyAcct and how to work around problems. We expect Intuit to respond to what is posted. It seems that these are coding problems, which we the customers cannot fix. Intuit doesn't have any answers to give us on whether they are going to fix the problems and an exact date when everything will be back to working correctly. I would appreciate a posting of what other software may be viable. I am looking at Drake, but there were issues on the updates. My IT company is seeing if they can fix that.

I copied the 2026 tax tables into the prior year version that is working for now.  I will load the client data into the current version so that I can do payroll tax reports and W2's.  I can work like this until they get all the issues resolved.

Exactly...I've been using EasyAcct since 2006.  Lied to and stolen from.

I was pissed off last year when they put the password crap on.  They never replied to me when I asked to take it off..  I feel the INTUIT management must have employee issues and are sabotaging the write up software.  My system is extremely slow to the point that it is barely usable.  It is extremely frustrating since the software is basically the same as 27 years ago.  I am not buying this crap again.  I will be using another write up system after tax season.

I understand your frustration and I am in NO means excusing Intuit for this software debacle going on right now, however in March 2025 the IRS rolled out a WISP (Written Internet Security Plan) that all PTIN holders must comply with for wireless and internet data security. Since EasyAcct has IRS forms filed electronically (i.e. 940, 941, W-2, W-3... etc.), the program falls under the requirement for password protection, multi-factor authentication and all of those not so fun requirements for us as preparers. If you do not have a WISP for your practice, it is now a requirement. I recommend preparing one in print and put with your organization important documents. If the IRS or FTC does a compliance check on your practice and you do not have it, there are penalties, loss of practitioner credentials and even imprisonment under the FTC Safeguards Rules.

EasyAcct is the ugly red headed stepkid in the Intuit family.  Intuit bought out the software years ago and the software has been an after thought to them ever since.  We used the software way back prior to the Intuit take over and for a few years after.  We did a lot of writeup work back then and dropped EasyAcct when we phased out.  Intuit’s dedication to the software is easy to prove since you basically need a Google search to find the software on an Intuit website.  As long as they can make a few bucks for minnow money they will keep selling it.  But just because they continue to sell it doesn’t mean they will ever put a high priority into engineering or support of the program.  I have seen all of the frustrated posts from EasyAcct owners this year and I feel bad for you the way Intuit has left all of you hanging this year.  Good luck and hopefully Intuit will get things figured out for you soon.

IronMan, please share what you switched to. I haven't found anything that gives us the freedom of double entry like EasyACCT.

@paygenius - like I said, we just pretty much got out of the writeup business.  I have used Sage for centuries for our own business accounting and just used that when I had the need to do some basic client bookkeeping.

If those of you looking for another software company, if you have found one would you be willing to share with who?  I've been looking....but not sure which direction to go.  Or if you want to private message me with your list.  I would appreciate it.

I have talked with Thomson Reuters about Accounting CS but it is outrageously priced.  I am talking to Sage tomorrow and give you more information once I get their information.

Definitely something to consider for next year (again). I can tell you that I had trouble with Manual Processing too. Here is how I managed to get payroll in: Put in first employee and hit Next, where you will then "sit and spin" indefinitely. Give up and close Manual Processing. Then reopen Manual Processing. You wouldn't think it saved the first employee, but when you go back in, you'll see it did - hit Next and the record you just gave up on will be there. Hit Next again to put in the second employee, where it may repeat the sit and spin. You may have to go through entire Close and reopen process again, but eventually it should let you advance to the next screen for the next employee. From there it should work (hopefully). Of course, check your Payroll Journal report carefully. Doesn't inspire much confidence in the product or results, but it gets you through.

Let us know what you find in other software.  I DO NOT want to use another Intuit product.  I have used Easy Acct from before Intuit bought them out.  I am not doing this again next year.  Will need to switch before year end.  The way Intuit is treating the problems this software is having is appalling.  I tell all new people coming into the accounting field to pick any software but Intuit.  Would love some suggestions on software from anyone that has switched.

UPDATE:  If Manual Processing is still not working correctly - After you get out the first time and go back in, don't even hit Next, just put your next employee in and it should Next from there.  Just check your Payroll Journal carefully.  EasyAcct not trustworthy right now.
