This year, we have been obsessively focused on even better stability, performance and quality to make Lacerte work faster and seamlessly for firms of all sizes. This additional investment over the next several years focuses on the areas you and your peers have told us are the most important to you. Besides ensuring Lacerte is fully optimized, here’s just a quick snapshot of a few new features being released, with more detail to follow in the tax year 2017 release notes: Address auto-fill based on zip codes: This third most requested feature is coming. As soon as you enter the zip code in the address field, the application will automatically fill up to four address fields, including city and state information, saving you time with manual entry. Stay tuned for which forms this will apply to in tax year 2017. Enhanced search experience: The new superior in-product search experience finds relevant answers for your questions quickly by searching within articles or content contributed by Lacerte community members. It’s very easy to use and naturally intuitive. The potential results are displayed while you type, making it that much easier. And, we’ll be adding additional functionality over time based on your feedback. Look for a pop up tutorial the first time you open the tax year 2017 product. eSignature support for additional forms: In addition to Form 8879 for e-file signature authorization, starting with tax year 2017, you will be able to collect eSignatures on a set of additional forms, including engagement letters, 7216 consent forms, Form 4506-T and W-9s. You can also place the eSignature panels on these forms. Tax content updates: We have a number of new e-filing types, 2D barcode tax returns and 93 new forms available for Lacerte. New forms include: Form 8288-A, Statement of Withholding on Dispositions by Foreign Persons of U.S. Real Property Interests Form 8805, Foreign Partner’s Information Statement of Section 1446 Withholding Tax And many more state forms …. Stay tuned for more detail on these and other items in your product release notes, starting with the first tax year 2017 release in early November.
