Because ProConnect Tax Online is cloud-based, some of the new features below were already released and ready for you to use during extension season; others will be coming soon as we make additional releases throughout the fall and into tax season. Features Available Now Split View: View data entry fields and tax return forms side-by-side, or on multiple monitors, to quickly see the implication of data entry changes on the tax form. This saves you time from having to go back and forth between the “Check Return” and the “Input” screens, since you can navigate from a tax form directly to the input field with just a few clicks. This is a great feature to quickly review and navigate the return. ProForma Batch Processing: Batch process the carrying of client tax return data from a prior year to the current year for many clients at one time, saving time on mundane tasks. Enhanced Roles & Permissions: Gain more granular access to firm and client data, giving you more control over firm information and access to client data at the user level Form 709: The gift tax module – Form 709, United States Gift (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Return – is now included. Not only is the module new; it also offers several new features to bring you a more intuitive experience. The module features conditional input fields that expand and contract based on your prior input to show you only the applicable input fields. We hope this innovation helps you reduce the information you need to contend with – and save you time when entering data. Tax Workflow Management and Client Communication: Available through the common client list in QuickBooks® Online Accountant, free workflow management tools make sure you never miss a deadline. You can quickly add to-dos, delegate work, monitor status, and make or receive updates New Features Coming Soon Data Import: Quickly and accurately import data from source documents provided by your clients into their tax returns. Eight source documents, including W-2, 1099, 1098 and K-1, will be supported in tax year 2017, with more coming soon after. Clients can provide documents through Intuit Link via upload, smartphone pictures or imports from more than 5,000 financial institutions in Intuit’s ecosystem. Tax Planner: Instead of rough estimates, give your 1040 clients data based on actual current and future state and federal tax rates built into the Tax Planner. Generate four types of tax plans: a year/case analysis, difference analysis, married filing jointly/married filing separately comparison and adjustment analysis. Tax Planner allows you to increase your value to clients by offering custom tax planning services, comparing multiple scenarios using actual current and future tax rates, and generating graphs and reports to communicate tax plans. Oil and Gas Functionality: Track oil and gas assets and their depletion, with the calculations to determine impact on tax liability. Stay tuned for additional announcements. In the meantime, here’s to the best tax season yet! Sonny, we plan on having the tax planner available to ProConnect Tax Online customers by the end of February. Thanks! Hi Christopher – The Tax Planner is part of the product. Thanks, Scott That’s the promise; I assume this feature is for the 2017 functionality, which is not currently available. I know it will be shortly, I was just hoping that there would be some tax planner capabilities to expand upon 2016 data to do 2017 projections and analysis but if we are not able to use it until the 2017 module is released the actual utilization of the module likely won’t be until 2018; maybe I am off. When will we be able to actually use this? Hi Christopher, we’re targeting late November/early December for release. Stay tuned! I have been waiting for the tax planning module for a long time. When can we expect it? sure would be nice to have now before the end of the year to do some tax planning before its too late for the 2017 tax year.
