Form W-7 returns N/A when Date of Entry into the United States is required to be Never Entered the United States

Form W-7 entry date has a date validation restriction and only accepts date.  If an applicant has never entered the United States, the IRS instructions for form W-7 indicate to enter "Never entered the United States" in this field.  Currently, when any text is entered in this field, the printed form will return a value of N/A in the field.  This is causing the IRS to reject these applications and for the taxpayer to re-submit a corrected form.  I would also like to suggest a check box be added to the Document Information Worksheet area if an applicant has never entered the United States so the proper verbiage is populated in the field.  The properties and size of the field will need to be adjusted because when you type Never Entered the United States, the field automatically reduces the font size to autofit the words in the small box and the font size is reduced to a tiny unreadable size.

But don't these have to be paper filed?

You could edit before submitting.

But yes I agree it would be nice if the software would generate the correct wording.

Yes.  The W-7's do need to be paper filed.  It would be nice if it left the field blank and then we could type in the correct wording before mailing.  However, it currently autofills N/A/ which the IRS does not accept as an answer.
