Does anyone have the access code for Proseries 2000 California?

Customer Support could not (would not?) release access codes before 2006, and was only willing to provide a link to online tax forms.

The federal form (1040) works correctly, and I am able to print returns (both federal and CA) for 2001 through 2005.  But now Proseries 2000 is requiring an access code for CA.

Does anyone have the access code for Proseries 2000 California?

Welcome to the community and thank you for posting your first questions. Customer support could not provide this for you because the product in question is sunsetted. There is no access to 2005 and prior, also no access to the codes.

@sjrcpa If I had the program installed and it was working before the sunset, it would still work. If something happened to the installed program, there is no way to get the access back, because access to 2005 and prior is no longer available.

Yes, to confirm, these products (ProSeries 2000-2005) were purchased, installed and continually used on their original computer up to and including last month.  Only 2000 California has failed as of this morning, requiring the access code to be re-entered.  I am not attempting a new install of 2000, updates to 2000, etc.

@Kathi_at_Intuit "Access to 2005 and prior is no longer available" does not make sense.  "Access" is simply entering a code that the standalone software recognizes.  It is not an ethereal entity granted by Intuit.  There could be many reasons why the access code needs to re-entered, such as a Windows update messing up some aspect of Intuit's code base from 2000.  It may be the case that "Intuit refuses to provide access codes to 2005 and earlier", which I expect is the case.  But that is different than asserting access is somehow not even possible (an assertion that is incorrect, as I *do* still have unrestricted access to federal and state forms for 2001 - 2005).

they no longer support those old years, if you can get them to work, that's great, if they don't work, they cant help you.

To add to what @Just £isa Now! said, unfortunately ProSeries no longer has those codes from prior years.
So there is no 'access' to year 2000 for those who did not already have it installed because there is no code available to unlock it.
If it was previously installed and somethine along the lines of a Windows update removes your code, ProSeries is unable to get you back into the program because it requires the code, just as it would with someone who did not have it previously installed.

Which confirms my assertion that Intuit is simply not willing, not unable, to provide these codes.  But this is why I've reached out to the community, not Intuit --- as their official policy appears to preclude helping prior customers.  I will say this --- for any community member reading this thread who has the same problem --- I *was* able to download and successfully install & run Lacerte 2000 (including federal and all state forms), and was able to generate a quick California return from it.  Lacerte currently offers these downloads, even as far back as early 1990s, and as far as I can tell, without charge.  Unlike Proseries, I did not run into an access code block, but similar to Proseries, there is no customer support before 2006. (I mention Lacerte in part because Intuit Customer Service specifically told me there were *no options* from Intuit for years 2005 and earlier, and specifically denied early Lacerte downloads were available, even when I asked the representative, "What about Lacerte before 2006?"  It appears Customer Service is not properly informed.)
