Foreign tax credit without 1116

how can I get small fgn tax credit without filling out all of the form 1116?  It generates lots of errors for unnecessary information to take a small credit if I just put the credit amount on the form 1116

What kind of error messages are you receiving?  Usually when the 1116 is not necessary there are no evil messages except one telling you that it is unnecessary to file the form.

Just enter it directly on Schedule 3 line 48.

...provided all the conditions for electing to claim FTC without F.1116 are met.  A lot of folks seem to focus on just the dollar amount.
