Client has been in the military. His state of residence has been officially Ohio for the military. In actuality, he lives in Idaho. In the past, he was stationed in WA and we knew he was Ohio for tax purposes, but since his entire income was active duty military pay, we were able to use the exemption for that and he got all his withholdings back.
He moved to Idaho at the end of 2023 or very first part of 2024. This year, he became a civilian July 1st. He has a civilian job in Idaho. He has active duty military pay (as a resident of Ohio) for the first half of the year, and the civilian pay (Idaho) in the second half of the year. I tried to do part year Ohio, and part year Idaho. Ohio is taxing his Idaho income. I filled out the allocation sheet. Is this really correct?
