Extensions will not file when some other form is not final, like 8801, or 1116. It makes ZERO sense. All I want is the Extension to be filed NOTHING ELSE? Who programs these anyway?

" but honestly it shouldn't matter. An extension is a stand alone form independent of the entire return. The IRS will accept them with literally ANYTHING entered for values. The fact that Intuit will not release an independent form because some form that will go with the final return is not ready is about as illogical, and inconvenient as it gets. I have copied the data files that are in this condition, deleted the offending forms, and e-filed the extension from the cleared file without any problem. I'll just keep the efile confirmation pages to prove to the IRS they were e-filed and accepted with a serial number, but it is way inconvenient for ZERO reason. The idiot who says you can't file an extension this early clearly has no idea what he's talking about. You can file extensions January 1st if you want."
I didn't need your whole ****** lecture just for asking for a little information to see if I could help. Glad you found a workaround, cause I'm not sure that attitude will generate much other response to you. We are not Intuit, we are just other preparer's trying to help each other out now and then
I still can't understand the rush to file an extension 2 months before you really need to but whatever floats your boat.
Which type of return are you filing an extension for, and what is the original due date?
Just asking to get a little more about your particular situation to see if that gives any of us any ideas.
