Does the Link provide some type of warning to clients that they are uploading information into a prior tax year? I recognize that may be totally legitimate but wonder if it would make sense for the Link to throw a warning to clients based on todays date. If a client goes to upload anything in a prior year (other than 2022 tax year) the portal asks the client if the document is for a prior year...or at least warns them they are uploading into a year other than 2022.
no warning…
I certainly agree…. In my cover letter each year (for those using IL) i put please make sure the drop down shows current tax year in big bold letters..
I’ve been whining about it for years… likely somewhere on Intuit todo list (way down at the bottom)… someone suggested it may have something to do with clients cache, but that’s above my pay grade.
I save the files on my hard drive anyway, then act as raxpayer to put them where they belong. I assume you do something similar.
Hi, Skylane...thanks for your response. I do something similar, yes. All files posted to the Link get saved to my "Client File" drive. Each client has their own individual folder on my client drive. I move the files from the Link to their respective file folder.
This is my second year using ProSeries and Link. I continue to learn my way around both. A client mistakenly uploaded some of their information to 2021. I didn't check that folder and missed some of the info. The client didn't pick that up during their review and we efiled. Not a huge deal, it was just some dependent care invoices. So while we will end up amending, it could have been worse.
Now I'll know to look under both years to make sure nothing was "misplaced" but it would be nice to have Link throw an FYI at the client to let them know they are uploading to a previous year.

just want to confirm you’ve tried ‘act as TP’ to clean up the messes.
IL is functional. … really depends on what kind of mess the client uploads and i can’t blame Intuit …. I’d rather sort through 2 shopping bags of paper to find the 5 forms i need than a pile of pdfs… technology won’t overcome that… as long as they pay the bills…..
mostly would like to cc myself with the client notifications.
