Hi online community, I wonder if anybody knows about the 3rd stimulus check and alternate dependency. Specifically, I read that the IRS was trying to eliminate the double dipping of previous stimulus. I read the person who claimed the dependent in the 2020 tax return but does not qualify to have the dependent in 2021 may have to return the payment. Does anybody know if there is something in the recovery worksheet to address this problem? I tried increasing the amount of the recovery amount but it does not do anything. Thanks

The law directed the IRS to try to make rules about this sort of double-dipping.
As of now, the IRS has not done so and the Instructions say nothing about it. So unless/until that changes, as of now it looks like double-dipping is allowed.
