Tax Preparer ID same as Tax Payer!!

FMT
Level 1

I am the Tax Preparer preparing my return. System will not let me e-file because Tax ID is the same as what is in the Preparer Information section. I use and have always used my social on my small practice. I changed to self prepared same error.

Any suggestions??

Thank You

Mark

Can you remove your SSN from your preparer info?

No then I get another error.

I'd advise you to get an EIN for your practice. Not a good idea to have your SSN printed on every tax return you prepare.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

I could have sworn someone else had this issue earlier this season and they just took their SSN out of the firm EIN box (since thats not an EIN anyhow) and was able to Efile.

I don't enter a EIN or Social.  Just the PTIN.

Assuming first year using this program,  If not, how did you make it work last year?
