I have a client that has reported to me that they sold some long held stock in 2024 and the proceeds were $76,128. He did not provide me with a tax form. I just have a copy of his bank statement showing where the money was deposited. Where do I report this on the return? My ProSeries Basic does not have a form 8949.

Open Sch D, at the top of the window is a button to the 1099B worksheet, thats where you enter it.
I am unable to open a 8949 in ProSeries Basic. Apparently, I need to create the form by some other means. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have inserted a picture of the grayed-out selection of the form 8949.

Thank you. I just figured that out. Have a great evening.
You can't input on 8949. Input on Sch D, that will create 8949.
Unless this was a private sale, of course there is a 1099-B somewhere. Why wouldn't you require the taxpayer to provide it to you? You need a lot more detail than the deposited amount.
