retried data for another client into an open file

I had completed file open. I wanted to start a new one, and transferred the data from the prior year, into the opened file's name. How do I retrieve the old file.. with the initial information?

From yesterday's backup?

The more I know, the more I don't know.

Not really sure what you were trying to accomplish but I'm pretty sure it's not possible.

You can do a File Save As with an open return to copy into a new file for current year to current year.

You can't transfer data from last year into a current year open file.  The program creates the current year file - not you.

If you overwrote the current file, what you previously entered is gone....by default it shouldnt let you overwrite onto a current return, you must have taken off the safety in the options somewhere.

Thank you... I have to look for that 'safety feature' so that it does not happen again.

Luckily I printed a hard copy.
