Can I make a payment for a client on the IRS website?

Yes.  IF you have all the pertinent info.  And I suggest you use your client's banking info <w>

I have 1 question - why would you?

Why can't they go on IRS.gov and make their own payment?

I would not be comfortable (nor would my insurance company I suppose) if I accessed the clients online irs account and had their bank info to make their payment.

You don't need an IRS account (id.me) to use Direct Pay.

The few clients that I 'hand-hold' for - I make them come in the office and we do it together.  These are non-tech savvy, 'older' clients that have been with me for decades.
