    MISSING BASIS ON 1099-B

    My client has a 1099-B with missing basis that was not reported to IRS.  The cost basis location will not take words.  How do I enter this on his return?

    They need to dig up the purchase records or get the broker to help them find the basis or the basis is zero.

    You need someone to do some homework to determine the amount of cost to enter
