Anybody else seeing a similar pattern? Im wondering if they were both filed on the same day or something in common like that.....Im out of the office until the 6th, I'll check for something like that when Im back, and its easy enough to fix using IRS Direct Pay, just curious if anyone else is seeing this?
The other client, I called the number on the 8879 and they dont show the ES payments as scheduled at all, so Im waiting until June 15th to see if anything pulls (when you call the EFTPS phone number they can only look them up by the dollar amount), so I want to make sure NO dollar amounts are scheduled before I use Direct Pay....they cant tell me if ANY payment is scheduled...which is dumb!
I had the same problem, I spoke with the IRS agent, she asked several times if my client received a
letter, I said no as the client informed me, though her payment was taken out for what she owed this season but not the ES payment, the IRS agent informed me, will if she didn't receive a letter than there's nothing that I nor the taxpayer can do.
NOT GOOD!!!
yea, this latest one, her balance due was pulled, so we know the account info is good, just no ES payments that I checked the boxes for.
she used this feature every year for multiple years now and its never been an issue. weird.
Still don't know why we as tax preparers offer to handle client's tax payments. With online payments taking one minute to do, let them pay everything. For the "convenience" of us handling it, all we get are potential headaches and penalties.
If the system would allow, I would give you 2 thumbs up and throw in a couple of bonus big toes for that. When Intuit, the IRS, the bank, or the client (oh, I closed that account) screws up, it becomes our problem to deal with. I have enough problems of my own without having to deal with these kinds of issues.
The clients that I have that use the feature are elderly and either dont have computers or dont know how to use the computers well enough to do it themselves online.
Then they're old enough to know how to mail in a payment with a voucher (young people have no clue where to buy stamps....). Again, your offering of this service is great. But you will pay for their convenience. We've all "been there-done that".
