It's my understanding that the IRS is no longer automatically sending out new IP PIN's for all taxpayers who had them for the year before. Each person must go online to the IRS.gov to get one (except maybe for taxpayers the IRS has already recognized as victims of identity theft).
Do we need to have those clients now go online every year and get a new one for themselves? OR is it possible that the IRS is no longer requiring those who had those in prior years to continue getting new ones each year? Can they just stop getting them? That wd be awesome, as this requirement has been a pain for many taxpayers (and their preparers).
